INDEPENDENCE PLAZA NEIGHBORHOOD

Independence Plaza is a Northeast neighborhood rich in historical significance to the Kansas City metropolitan area. Our boundaries are Independence Avenue on the north, Benton Boulevard on the east, I-70 on the South, Brooklyn (south of 9th Street), and Paseo (north of 9th Street) on the west. We are unique among the Historic Northeast neighborhoods because we have a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. It is a quiet neighborhood bordering downtown Kansas City, Missouri, and is home to a diverse segment of the city’s population.

The Independence Plaza Neighborhood Council has regular neighborhood meetings on the 2nd Thursday of the month, 6:30 pm via Zoom
